A devastating incident occurred in Kansas City, Missouri, where a 9-year-old girl was struck and killed by a cargo van while riding her bicycle to school on Tuesday morning.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, the girl, identified as Hazen Duffy, a third grader at Ingels Elementary School, was riding her bike across the street at the intersection of Longview Road and Food Lane Drive.
The initial report stated that Hazen was in the crosswalk and had a green light when a white Ford Transit van, driving north on Food Lane Drive, turned left onto Longview Road and hit her.
Paramedics took Hazen to a nearby hospital, where she later died. The driver of the van stopped and cooperated with the investigation, which is ongoing.
