As a student of El Camino College, I believe that textbooks and course materials should be factored into the cost of a class.
With rising tuition and education costs, many colleges have not taken sufficient measures to alleviate student expenditures. The cost of class materials is an additional financial burden, often feeling like an extra expense for required reading.
This semester, I enrolled in three classes, each unit costing $46 for California residents. However, with additional required fees, the total cost adds up quickly, even before considering extra course materials.
While El Camino College is more affordable than private colleges, there is still room for improvement in terms of transparency regarding where students' money is being spent.
