Jefferson Chalmers Seeks Seawalls to Ease Flood Insurance Burden

Residents of Jefferson Chalmers are exploring a seawall repair program to alleviate FEMA flood zone restrictions.

Councilmember Latisha Johnson is working to make seawall grant program applications available to the public by spring.

“We boat, we fish, we kayak, we paddleboard — we try to take full advantage of all the beautiful assets here, and we know we’re privileged to have access to these,”

said Dan Piepszowski, a resident of the canal community of Harbor Island.
