To honour their service and sacrifice, TransLink will provide free transit to veterans and active military personnel on Remembrance Day, Tuesday, November 11.
Eligible individuals can show their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or wear their uniform to access free transit. Veterans and qualified passengers are not required to tap their Compass Card on buses and HandyDART trips.
An accessible fare gate at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will stay open starting at 8 a.m. on Remembrance Day to facilitate free boarding.
TransLink also honours National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, recognizing the sacrifices and contributions of Indigenous veterans to peace and security worldwide.
The Royal Canadian Legion will be distributing poppies by donation at various transit hubs in Metro Vancouver.
Customers are encouraged to use transit to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies throughout the region.
Holiday fares will apply to other customers on Tuesday, November 11.
