Former NFL star Antonio Brown waived extradition before a judge on Friday as he prepares to return to Miami to face attempted murder charges. The charges stem from an alleged incident in the spring where Brown opened fire at a crowded event.
At 37 years old, Brown was extradited from Dubai by marshals and handed over to the Newark Port Authority, which placed him in Essex County Jail. After the hearing, he was returned to the jail to await transfer to Florida authorities. The timing of his pickup remains unclear.
According to the arrest warrant for the May 16 shooting, Brown reportedly took a handgun from a security staffer after a boxing match and fired two shots at a man he had previously fought with physically. The victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, told investigators that one bullet grazed his neck.
The charge of second-degree attempted murder carries a potential 15-year prison sentence and a fine of up to $10,000 if Brown is convicted. It is not clear from court documents whether Brown currently has legal representation.

"One of the bullets had grazed his neck," said the victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu.
Brown had been posting on social media from Dubai in recent months, but the exact length of his stay there is unknown.
