Stars of Taylor Sheridan’s series Landman gathered at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth on November 6 for a screening of the Season 2 opener. Academy Award-winning actor Billy Bob Thornton, although not originally from Fort Worth, named it his favorite U.S. city. He enjoys both the celebration of Fort Worth’s Western culture and the city’s role as the primary filming location for Landman.
“For years and years, it was kind of the little sister to the big sister, and Fort Worth is really getting its due now,” Thornton said.
Alongside Thornton, cast members Sam Elliott, Paulina Chávez, Michelle Randolph, and James Jordan attended the event. Co-creator Taylor Sheridan was absent, but his wife, Nicole Muirbrook, represented him. The Fort Worth Film Commission hosted the premiere in partnership with the Lone Star Film Festival, which concluded its screenings in November.
The series centers on Tommy Norris, portrayed by Thornton, who works to negotiate leases with landowners for energy development. Season 1 explored Norris's complex interactions with corporate leaders, Mexican drug cartel members, and oil and gas industry workers in the Permian Basin amid a challenging environment.
