Bay Village fire station renovation and expansion projected at over $11 million

Bay Village Fire Station Renovation and Expansion Estimated Over $11 Million

The Bay Village fire station, built 53 years ago, is set for major remodeling and expansion. Based on figures from Regency Construction Services presented to City Council, the project's maximum total cost is estimated between $11.03 million and $11.38 million.

Construction-related expenses, including allowances, are projected at approximately $9.58 million. Additional soft costs, such as design services, geotechnical engineering, furniture, fixtures, and contingency funds for unforeseen issues, bring the total to around $11.03 million.

The city is evaluating several preferred alternates that could add about $344,700, which would raise the overall project cost to $11.38 million. Among these additions is a proposed second-floor skills training room that was not part of the original plan.

“Nearly $1.6 million in federal funds, including money from the American Rescue Plan Act, would reduce the total cost to be financed by the city to about $9.8 million.”

Regency Construction Services has been selected by the city to act as the construction manager at risk, overseeing the project's completion while controlling costs.
