Social media is flooded with a new disinformation campaign using artificial intelligence to create fabricated videos about Ukraine’s mobilization efforts. These videos, spread on platforms like TikTok and X, falsely depict young Ukrainian men experiencing forced mobilization.
Experts describe this campaign as a new phase in Kremlin-led information warfare aimed at destabilizing trust in Ukraine’s government and undermining Western support.
“The information space is a battlefield, and that's why (Russia) works tirelessly to push its narratives,” said Anton Kuchukhidze, international political scientist and co-founder of the United Ukraine think tank.
The fabricated content is designed to evoke panic and doubt among Ukrainians and their allies, weakening moral and political support during ongoing conflict.
Author's summary: AI-driven fake videos are being weaponized to disrupt trust in Ukraine’s leadership and undermine international backing by spreading false stories of forced mobilization.
