North Melbourne moved closer to an undefeated season after beating Hawthorn in the AFLW qualifying final on Friday night. Despite a lackluster attack, the Roos showed strong control around the field, overcoming injuries that impacted the Hawks before 4,392 fans at Ikon Park in Carlton.
The Roos' unbeaten run, stretching back to last season, now stands at 25 consecutive wins following their 5.12 (42) to 0.3 (3) victory. North Melbourne will rest before the next round, while Hawthorn hopes their injury concerns do not affect their upcoming elimination semi-final.
“That’s probably be one area that we’ll look at,”
said Roos coach Darren Crocker. He highlighted the team’s solid defensive pressure but pointed out missed scoring opportunities. “We could have been a little bit better with where we put the ball at times,” Crocker added.
Overall, the Roos demonstrated strong teamwork and resilience to continue their impressive run despite offensive struggles and physical challenges for both teams.
North Melbourne’s patience and experience secured a dominant win, extending their undefeated streak and positioning them well for the finals ahead.
