This afternoon, a woman and a child drowned after falling into Dandenong Creek near Allan Street, around 3:45 pm.
A witness reported that the two were swept away by the water. It is believed the woman tried to rescue the child but both ended up in trouble.
Police searched the area, found the unconscious pair, pulled them from the water, and performed CPR. Despite emergency services' efforts, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The identities of the woman and child are not yet known. Authorities will prepare a report for the coroner.
