A woman and a child have tragically died after falling into a waterway in southeast Melbourne.
The incident occurred around 3:45 pm on Monday at Dandenong Creek near Allan Street in Dandenong. Authorities believe the mother struggled in the water after trying to save the child.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and found both unconscious. CPR was administered, but unfortunately, neither could be revived and were declared dead at the location.
Neither the woman nor the child has been formally identified yet. Police are preparing a report for the coroner to further investigate the circumstances.
