A woman and a child tragically drowned after falling into Dandenong Creek on the afternoon of 10 November, according to police reports.
At around 3:45 pm, a witness alerted authorities that two individuals had been swept away near Allan Street after falling into the creek.
It is believed the woman tried to rescue the child but ended up struggling herself, police stated. Responders searched the area, found the unconscious pair, pulled them from the water, and immediately began CPR.
They were unable to be revived and declared dead at the scene.
The woman and child have not yet been identified. Police are preparing a report for the coroner to determine further details.
