WFYI heard from 20 LGBTQ groups in Indiana, gathering insights on the state of pride across the state.
Community attitudes toward LGBTQ pride appear to be improving, with more communities hosting events, including the Northwest Indiana city of Decatur, which hosted its first Pride festival this year.
- Over 40 pride events were held in Indiana in 2025, with Decatur County hosting the final festival of the pride season in Greensburg.
- Organizers report a mix of improvements and challenges, including more harassment, wavering sponsors, and local government trouble compared to previous years.
Organizers point to the climate under sweeping policies from the Trump administration and Indiana state government targeting the LGBTQ community.
