Ready, Fire, Aim: Fly Me to the Moon
The song "Fly Me to the Moon", originally titled "In Other Words", was written in 1954 by Bart Howard. The lyrics include:
Fly me to the moon, Let me play among the stars, Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars. In other words, baby, kiss me…The song's publisher asked Howard to simplify his grandiose lyrics, resulting in a song with a simple message: Hold my hand.
Although the idea of flying to the moon was not feasible in 1954, it became a reality 15 years later during the Apollo space program. However, hand-holding and kissing are universal and affordable expressions of love.
