Researchers at Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU), in collaboration with St. Petersburg State University, have developed a novel method to synthesize imidazoles heterocycles using oxygen from the air as a key reagent.
This innovation has the potential to reduce production costs and simplify the synthesis of imidazoles, which are essential components in a wide range of medicinal substances and materials.
The research was supported by the Russian Science Foundation grant and published in the journal SYNTHESIS (Q2, IF: 2.3).
Author's summary: TPU chemists develop air-based method for heterocycle production.
