The Maharashtra and Goa Bar Council has decided to close all courts and bench offices on November 3 to protest the increasing attacks on lawyers.
The closure is also intended to demand the passage of the 'Lawyer Protection Act' to protect lawyers. On this day, all registered lawyers will hold a peaceful protest and stay away from court proceedings.
A draft law for the protection of lawyers was prepared and suggestions were sought from various bar councils. The draft 'Lawyer Protection Act' was handed over to the Advocate General after considering suggestions and amendments from many bar associations in Maharashtra.
No lawyer should be subjected to violence or intimidation while performing their duties.
