Bringing an alternative slant to American minimalism, London's Explore Ensemble and the EXAUDI Vocal Ensemble present a major new work by Catherine Lamb, alongside music by James Tenney & Steve Reich.
Berlin-based composer Catherine Lamb weaves together six voices with an ensemble that includes a just intonation electric guitar and retuned celtic harp. Together, they explore forms drawn from harmony and timbre, and based on the natural tunings of just intonation.
Music by Lamb's teacher, James Tenney, opens the night, juxtaposed with Reich's electrifying Eight Lines providing a more propulsive energy.
