A medieval tower near the Roman Forum has partially collapsed during renovation work, severely injuring a worker and trapping another.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Monday during renovations of the Torre dei Conti structure in the heart of Italy's capital.
Firefighter spokesman Luca Cari confirmed that the one remaining worker remained trapped hours after the initial collapse.
Hundreds of tourists witnessed the rescue attempt, which involved firefighters using a mobile ladder to reach the upper level of the tower.
