Edinburgh Trams to commemorate Remembrance Day

Edinburgh Trams to Commemorate Remembrance Day

Edinburgh Trams will honor Remembrance Sunday on November 9 and Armistice Day on November 11, paying tribute to those who lost their lives during World War I, World War II, and more recent conflicts.

To recognize the sacrifices made by service members, veterans and active personnel of the Army, Navy, and Air Force can travel free on trams during both remembrance days. They may use this offer by showing military identification or by wearing their uniform.

In the days before these commemorations, representatives from Poppy Scotland will be stationed at the Haymarket tram stop offering poppies for sale. Trams will also feature poppy displays in their windows as a visible symbol of remembrance.

As an additional gesture of respect, tram services will pause at 11 a.m. for a two-minute silence on both days, where it is safe to do so.

“Each year I am proud to show our support at Edinburgh Trams on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. As a former veteran myself, and with several colleagues who are former service men and women, we are passionate about paying tribute to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.”

Lea Harrison, Managing Director, Edinburgh Trams

Author’s summary: Edinburgh Trams will offer free rides, poppy sales, and a two-minute tribute to honor veterans and fallen service members this Remembrance Day.
