RBI Appoints New Executive Directors
The Reserve Bank of India has appointed Sonali Sen Gupta and Sanjay Kumar Hansda as Executive Directors, overseeing key departments and strengthening leadership in financial inclusion, policy research, and consumer protection.
Sonali Sen Gupta and Sanjay Kumar Hansda will manage core departments, bringing decades of experience in finance, policy, and banking. Gupta takes charge from October 09, 2025, while Hansda started his term on October 06, 2025.

- Sonali Sen Gupta served as Regional Director for Karnataka at RBI’s Bangalore office, with over 30 years of experience in financial inclusion, banking regulation, and human resource management.
- She has represented the RBI in the G20’s Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI) and the OECD’s International Network on Financial Education (INFE), and served as a director on the board of the National Centre for Financial Education (NCFE).
These appointments will strengthen the RBI's leadership in key areas.
