A McDonald’s restaurant on Newmarket Road in Cambridge is applying to extend its daily opening hours, aiming to open from 6am instead of the current 7am, while keeping closing time at 11pm.
The branch has previously requested longer hours but was refused twice. Now, Savills, representing McDonald’s, has submitted a new application to operate from 6am to 11pm every day of the week.
Savills stated in a cover letter that the proposed extra hour in the morning should not have a significant negative impact on local residents. They highlighted that other nearby businesses have varied trading hours, including Papa John’s, which is open until 3am daily.
“We therefore anticipate that the proposal is entirely acceptable in terms of the extra hour of operation in the early morning trading period as no complaints have been received.”
The application also notes that most customers visit during early mornings and emphasizes economic benefits linked to the extended opening time.
The McDonald’s branch provides special offers, promotions, and adverts to the local community and its customers throughout the day.
McDonald's Cambridge branch seeks a one-hour earlier opening, citing no significant impact on neighbors and positive economic benefits, despite previous refusals.
