Vicksburg Man Killed in Lawrence County Crash
A Vicksburg man was killed early Sunday morning in a vehicle crash during a police pursuit, according to authorities.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the incident around 1:18 a.m. A 2015 Nissan Altima, driven by 42-year-old Michael Lyons of Vicksburg, was traveling south when it left the roadway and overturned.
Lyons suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 15-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries and was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center by ambulance.
Authorities reported that Lyons was fleeing from a Lawrence County Sheriff's deputy at the time of the crash. Questions regarding the pursuit should be directed to the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
