Newsom Vs. Trump 2028: California Governor Considers White House Bid
California Governor Gavin Newsom has been hinting at a presidential run for months, and he recently made his intentions a bit more official.
“Yeah, I’d be lying otherwise,”
Newsom told CBS Sunday Morning's Robert Costa, admitting he is giving
“serious thought”to a White House bid. He added,
“I’d just be lying, and I’m not — I can’t do that.”
When asked about his potential run in 2028, the 58-year-old politician stated,
“Fate will determine that.”However, he has been testing the waters in Red States and taking swings at Donald Trump, with the caveat that he will not make up his mind about 2028 until the 2026 midterms are over.
