Government Seeks Ideas to Modernize SA's Rail Network
The South African government aims to achieve 600 million passenger trips on its rail network by 2030.
According to a recent audit by the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA), 77 million passenger journeys were recorded after 35 out of 40 passenger corridors were successfully commissioned.
To reach its target, the Department of Transport is calling on the private sector for ideas and investment, issuing several Requests for Information (RFI).
The government is targeting 600 million passenger trips by 2030, a significant increase from the current 77 million.
