West Virginia broke a five-game losing streak by defeating No. 22 Houston on the road, securing Rich Rodriguez's first ranked win since returning to West Virginia.
The Mountaineers, led by true freshman quarterback Scotty Fox Jr., carried momentum from their previous game against TCU to achieve their first Big 12 win, standing at 1-5 in the conference and 3-6 overall.
"Good to have a happy locker room," Rodriguez said. "I was like 'Where's this been?' It's been there. We just had to put it all together."
Houston, now 7-2, is likely to be removed from the AP Top 25. Scotty Fox Jr., making his third start, led the team to victory despite being less accurate than in the previous game against TCU.
