SR 9 Closure in Sedro-Woolley

A portion of State Route 9 in Sedro-Woolley will remain closed indefinitely after a car crash damaged railroad crossing safety equipment.

The crash occurred overnight on Saturday, when a wrong-way vehicle collided with the rail crossing signal box on SR 9, which is owned by BNSF Railway.

The closure is expected to persist this week as the state Department of Transportation coordinates with the railway to order replacement equipment.

Crews will also temporarily adjust the signal timing on SR 20 during the closure.

No official timeline for the reopening has been announced.
