An urgent recall has been issued for three tomato-based pasta sauces due to concerns they may contain Clostridium botulinum bacteria, which can cause severe and potentially fatal food poisoning.
The recall concerns 26-ounce jars distributed between Connecticut and Massachusetts starting September 22, 2025, through Big Y and possibly other retailers. All affected jars carry a use-by date of September 26.
"The affected products were produced without an approved schedule, meaning the production process was not adequately evaluated to prevent the formation of this dangerous bacterium." — U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
First and Last Bakery, LLC, is managing the recall after being alerted to the potential presence of the harmful bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date.
Due to the severity of botulism, customers who have purchased these sauces are strongly advised to return them to their place of purchase for a full refund.
Summary: Three tomato-based pasta sauces were urgently recalled due to contamination risks from Clostridium botulinum, posing a serious health hazard and prompting consumers to seek refunds immediately.
