Doctor Allegedly Shot Dead by Karachi Police

A protest was staged outside the Hyderabad Press Club by relatives of Dr. Mehr Ali Tunio, who was reportedly killed in a fake police encounter in Karachi's Gulshan-e-Iqbal area.

According to the protesters, Dr. Mehr Ali had withdrawn Rs1.5 million from a bank to purchase medicines and equipment when he was stopped by police during a routine check.

The officers, tempted by the money, falsely branded him a robber and killed him in a staged encounter.

Relatives and protesters alleged that the police's actions were motivated by the large sum of money Dr. Mehr Ali was carrying.
