FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta is delighted as the team's return to the Spotify Camp Nou nears reality. On Friday, the first team trained on the iconic pitch in front of over 21,000 fans during an open session, designed as a pilot event. This marks the initial step toward fully reopening the stadium amid ongoing work on the Espai Barça project.
After the special day, Laporta shared his thoughts, noting positive emotions and no incidents. However, he emphasized the need for thorough reviews with all departments and a detailed evaluation before confirming the date of the first official match.
“The feelings are good and there were no incidents.”
He mentioned that currently, the stadium could hold 27,000 spectators. The goal is to secure phase 1B approval soon, enabling almost the entire stadium to open except for the North Goal. “We’ll do it as soon as possible,” Laporta added, highlighting the club's commitment to returning home.
Laporta reflected on the emotional impact of entering the stadium again.
“When I entered the Spotify Camp Nou, I relived so many memories from the past. But I also see the present and the future. This is a legacy for future Barça supporters.”
He praised the new stadium as
“an architectural jewel that will be the best in the world,”noting that the project is already showing positive results across multiple aspects.
The return to a partially reopened Spotify Camp Nou symbolizes a new chapter for FC Barcelona, blending rich history with ambitious progress under Laporta’s leadership.
